    If the wire slack is falling vertically - like if you are pulling them out of a J box in the ceiling, for example, you can put the handle of some Kleins around the wire and then throw some electrical tape around the handle so so it can’t come off. Basically the pliers will act as an anchor and keep the wires under tension so they don’t turn into a rat’s nest.

    This is especially helpful if you have to pull THHN out of conduit to rework something, etc., with the intention of pulling it back in shortly thereafter. A traffic cone is also a good pick to throw the wire over and drag along the floor just like you’re doing with the bucket. We tend to have those around lifts in operational commercial settings where non-construction Normies are walking around.

    I love my T6-1000 but these are testers, not meters. I’ve been fooled with this meter on 24 VDC control circuits that were being pulled down causing a machine to shut down. A coworker has the 87V and we had to use that to get an actual accurate measurement of what voltage was truly present. My T6 now stays in my box and I run my 376 FC daily.

    Same can be said for Automotive... except to get the top top pay . It seems you need to be a 1 trick pony at a high end dealership. Jaguar, BMW etc.. I heard if you are dedicated to ONE brand you can earn around 200k/year... ALSO you gotta suffer for about 1 year.. BUT don't be like me and work for 4 different dealer brands and hop from shop to shop, you will never be a top performer. Just some guy who can work on a lot of complex shit..

    TLDR: How easy or complicated is it to move states as an apprentice and/or journeyman in the IBEW? I've wanted to move across the country for a while, but I have yet to commit due to a lack of personnel resources. I'm 30 struggled with significant health issues since I was 14; thankfully, I'm finally on the mend. Because of this, I still live with my parents. I'm extremely grateful to have been supported by them for years as I've tried my best to make my way through college while dealing with my poor health but I'm not getting any younger, college just isn't working out, and I'm desperate and hungry to get on with my life, start making money and no longer be a burden to my family. I'm still in the preliminary research phase, but I'm beginning to seriously think about shifting gears to becoming an electrition and trying to join my local IBEW. Any advice or encouraging stories are greatly appreciated!

    Don't let age stop you if you really want to do it. I'm 42, was losing my mind sitting behind a desk all day, so I took the leap and now I'm 6 mths into my 1st yr as an apprentice. I also know a 51 yr old who's going into her 5th yr. I do wish I would've started when I was younger, but I probably would've thrown away the opportunity. Everything happens at the right time. Thanks for the video, very motivating.

    I happen to be a lifelong photographer, to make viewing easier on my iPhone I used a tripod attachment for my phone and raised it up for much easier viewing. Has anyone else found some hacks for view phone while using the Walabot? Guess could put double stick tape or adhesive Velcro on a cheap iPhone case? Thoughts?

  • @rickmelcher6845
    @rickmelcher6845 5 дней назад

    JUST received my Walabot DIY 2. It connected to my iPhone quickly (~ 7-8 seconds) and calibration took about 10 seconds. I’m believe other reviewers that struggle in various situations don’t take time to calibrate completely. If you’re asking a tech device that requires calibration, prob not best to expect much accuracy if you’re not doing the calibration well. I highly recommend this wall stud finder. It found wooden studs and an electrical wire , that I wasn’t expecting, quickly & clearly. Just get it. Just one incorrect drilling cannot only destroy your results, but KILL YOU if you hit the wrong electrical source. Now you REALLY have to spend money! Lastly some people complain about the Walabot “marking or scraping” paint off interior walls. I agree the 2 strips of hard “plastic” would scratch surfaces, depending how hard you press into the wall. Walabot requires only slight pressure and to make things move more smoothly & less “damaging” for some users I applied 1 strips of 3M invisible tape with a little foldover tab for easy removal/replacement. It makes a big difference in scanning as well as protecting the device & walls.

      @@MadElectrician Ok, but it doesn't change anything. Why do you need a hole at the bottom? Because you want to put cables through it... and pushing cables through the wall aiming at it is 'challenging' until you do some inspection hole below or it is very short distance to pull cables from. Anyway technique of making a whole on installed box is is very good.
